RED DRAGON RACING ONLINE TEAM

Our Story

First setup in 2014, Red Dragon Racing quickly made a name for itself in the Rebel Alliance Race League by winning their first race, the Daytona 500 on NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. A second win would come a week after, when driver and team founder Natalie Haydens-Gibson would win the Pheonix round, even with a flat right front tyre. For the rest of their first season, the team struggled with handling issues and finished fifth overall.

The second season Red Dragon Racing competed in would prove to be more fruitful. Driving a VW Lupo Cup Car on Gran Turismo 5, Natalie won the opening round and went on to win atleast 1 of each race per evening, securing the championship with several rounds still to go.

Seasons 3 & 4 would be run together, one series being the Civic Cup, the other a modern take on the old BTCC Supertouring Formula, where Red Dragon Racing would field 2 Nissan Stagea touring wagons. The second NIssan would be driven by long time friend of Natalie, Martyn Robinson.

In the Civic's things went much the same way as the Lupo Series, with Natalie taking several wins throughout the season and taking home the championship with several rounds to go.

The Super Touring Trophy series turned into a one sided battle, with both Nissans up front, utterly dominating the rest of the field, much the same way Williams Renault did in the BTCC in 1997. Natalie would win the championship, becoming the first 3 time champion in the Rebel Alliance Race League, and Martyn would come home in second overall.

After this, Red Dragon Racing pulled out of the Rebel Alliance Race League.

In 2017, Red Dragon Racing would run a small, part time schedule in the Rebel Alliance Racing League again, racing an Audi S3 Saloon Touring Car, this time driven by Matt Edwards. The team would win in their first outing at Spa Francorchamps and would come home 4th overall despite running part time, this was thanks to several other victories throughout the season. Once again, the team would leave the league, not returning to console racing until 2019.

In 2017 and into 2018, Red Dragon Racing ran in the LNRacing NASCAR iRacing Series, coming home 2nd overall after 30 rounds, taking wins at Daytona, Talladega and Watkins Glen.

In 2019, Red Dragon Racing announced they would return to racing in the Rebel Alliance Race League, running the final 5 rounds in the Volvo 850R World Challenga. Once again, the car would be piloted by Natalie Haydens Gibson.

In Round 1, Natalie was running strong at the front of the field at Indianapolis and it seemed like it would be a fairytail return to the league, however contact with another car on the final lap saw the car limp home in 3rd. The team would then win the following 2 rounds at Indy.

This set the ball in motion, and Natalie would win the next 12 races on the trot, 14 races in a row in total. Martyn Robinson would once again join the team, driving another 850R. He would go on to win the championship, making Red Dragon Racing a 4 time championship winning team in the Rebel Alliance Race League. Natalie would come home 3rd overall despite running only half of the season.

After the Volvo championship came to an end, the Rebel Alliance Racing League ran the World GT Championship (WGTC) with two Porsche 911 RSR GT3s. Both Natalie and Martyn were the primary drivers. After a strong start to the season, the team struggled in GT Cars, eventually coming home P2 and P3 overall after the season was cut short due to dwindling numbers. During this time, the team also ran two cars in the Clio Cup to great success. Eventually coming home P1 and P2 when the series came to an early end at the same time as the GT Series. Natalie was crowned the champion by default as she was leading when the series stopped.

Moving on from the WGTC and Clio Cup, the Rebel Alliance Race League introduced the Escort 1600 Fun Cup which was a series with less rules to try and gain some interest back in the League. The series was being run on Monday evenings, with 6 races (3 races at 2 tracks each) per night. As before in the Clio Cup, both Red Dragon Racing drivers would be the ones to beat, with both of them winning numerous races, however it was once again Natalie who would be crowned champion.
